Digital Story (Small) - Design Fiction
Virtual Reality has been trending in education for the last few years. While the common use for this technology has been in the STEAM concentrations, virtual and augmented reality headsets can also play a huge role in building literacy skills.
By using the already accessible and affordable VR technology found in many public and school libraries, students can literally dive into their favorite story. Programmers can develop software that would allow students to visit digital renderings of their favorite books. This would be a great way to catch the attention of reluctant readers and introduce story elements such as setting and characters to emerging readers. Perhaps as the software and format develops, students will be able to participate and change their favorite stories based on the decisions they make as the main character.
